Trade School Cafe in Naenae

A new cafe is opening in August in Naenae across from the pool. The cafe is a result of many months of planning and fundraising by the Trade School Industries Trust.

The trust was set up in 2016 with the aim of creating employment opportunities for the formerly incarcerated. Paid work acts as a base to rebuild their lives, help people become meaningful contributors to their community, and ultimately become their best selves.

Our very own Alison Robinson is one of the founding Trustees Trade School Industries Trust, and is actively promoting the upcoming cafe opening.

The placement of trained baristas from Arohata is a valuable stepping stone for women looking for meaningful opportunities to weaving themselves back in to a community.

The trust has successfully raised $30K through the pledgeMe platform, and and seem on track to being able to complete the cafe fit-out.
